Stolen Images

In his latest adventure, Stolen Images, Max Quillan unravels a dangerous conspiracy in Dundee. When a new exciting exhibition using AI is set to launch at the city's V&A Design Museum (pictured below left), Max and his companion, dentist Lucy Donaldson, must race against time to expose the criminals behind it, who have already committed one murder.

A new case for Max Quillan

Max Quillan is seeking change from lecturing and when the Honours of Scotland, its Crown Jewels, are loaned to the V&A Design Museum in Dundee, (pictured left) he jumps at the chance to be involved. The V&A is then pressed to host a follow-up exhibition featuring avatars generated by AI. The creator of the AI software, a young Polish man, died apparently in an accident. His ground breaking software now belongs to brothers, Ewan and Noel Kydd, one time pop stars with a previous unsavoury reputation in the city as dealers in drugs and porn.

The Kydd Klan, Dundee's answer to the Krays

Arriving in Dundee, Max rents a flat in the former Dundee Royal Infirmary building which overlooks the city centre from the north (pictured above) To his surprise, the neighbouring flat is occupied by vivacious dentist Lucy Donaldson, on whom he had a crush in his student days but has not seen since. Her brother Logan is now a senior policeman in the city. When a doubt arises about the provenance of the groundbreaking AI tech which is set to be the focus of the next V&A exhibition, Max enlists the help of Lucy and her brother. Together they uncover the criminal activities of the Kydd brothers who have already killed to protect their interests, and will not hesitate to do so again.

Noel Kydd , the charismatic leader of the Kydd associates is a keen cricketer at Dundee's Lochee Park (pictured right). His  cricket bat, used to do violence to those who oppose him in life, provides a key piece of evidence against him and Max sets out to steal it during a cricket match.

Lacking a car of his own, Max is teased by Lucy that he is having a ‘mid-life crisis’, when he buys a Classic Car, a 1959 MGA (pictured left) soon after arriving in Dundee.

The Max Quillan series

Stolen Images is the latest in the Max Quillan series. While the book stands alone, there is enough back reference to his previous adventures to tempt readers to sample the previous books, soon available as eBooks. If you enjoy it, look out for Jackson Lamont's thriller set on the Rock of Gibraltar (Hollow Rock ) which is set for future re-issue by Ingram Spark.
