About Jackson Lamont

(Stewart) Jackson Lamont

Stewart Jackson Lamont's life so far has taken him to many of the places he writes about. Born in Broughty Ferry, Dundee, his academic journey began at Grove Academy then St Andrews University, where he earned degrees in science and divinity and served as President of the Union. A diverse career in broadcasting and journalism followed. As a producer and presenter of radio and television programmes he worked mainly for BBC Scotland but also Yorkshire TV and C4. His journalism spanned twenty years as a columnist in the Herald and and Scotsman and a stint at religious affairs for the Sunday Times. In the nineties, ministries within the Church of Scotland, took him from a parish in Glasgow to Brussels to work at the Conference of European Churches. There followed seven years as minister in Gibraltar and various cities in Europe. He came full circle by returning to Angus as minister of two rural parishes before retiring. Now residing in Edinburgh with his wife of 35 years, he has returned to writing fiction under the name Jackson Lamont. The Max Quillan series charts a world where historical artefacts are stolen, crime writers are targeted for assassination and cutting-edge tech becomes a motive for murder.

For Fans of Mystery and 'History Lite'

Jackson Lamont's books are for those who appreciate a good mystery set against an interesting scenario. His own favourite detectives are Simenon's Maigret, Ruth Rendell's Wexford, and Jorn Lier Horst's Wisting. Max, however, is not a policeman. He is strictly an amateur who seems to have an uncanny knack of stumbling across crimes, more in the lineage of Albert Campion, Paul Temple or a host of modern equivalents.

If you enjoy unravelling plots and characters who are both likeable and intriguing, the Max Quillan series offers a unique blend of suspense and 'history lite', perfect for readers who enjoy detective fiction.
